The South in Black and White: The Graphic Works of James E. Routh Jr., 1939-1946

We're working on checking measurements for this exhibition that will be at the Robert C. Williams Paper Museum soon, and we wanted to show you an example of one thing that makes it really interesting. Jim Routh traveled throughout the South, sketching, and later turned his quick drawings into lithographs, including this one, of the Dixie Steel plant in Atlanta. The plant no longer exists, but the area where it once was is now Atlantic Station, home to stores, restaurants, a movie theater and more. So the next time you're heading to Ikea in Atlanta, think about the fact that this big manufacturing site used to occupy the same ground.
