Lamar Dodd BFA Exhibitions

The opening receptions for two exhibitions through the BFA program at the University of Georgia’s Lamar Dodd School of Art will take place this Friday, November 13 at 7:00 p.m. at Lamar Dodd. The two exhibitions are BFA I: Drawing and Painting and BFA I: Art X + Sculpture. Both of these exhibitions will be ongoing until November 30.

The drawing and painting exhibition features drawings and paintings by Katie Bacon, Ian King, Timothy McLeod, Jordyn Pritchard and Claudia Santillan. The BFA program in drawing and painting at Lamar Dodd “exposes students to a full range of aesthetic and intellectual pedagogy.” Students work with different media types, including charcoal, pastel, oil and acrylic paint, among others. The program helps students develop skills in not only drawing and painting, but also in the ability to relate art to contemporary issues.

The Art X + Sculpture exhibition, “Continuance,” features work by Elizabeth Baek, Gary Bardizbanian, Katie Graham, Rejon Noah and Seth Nichoals Stephens. The exhibition will have everything from sculpture, to kinetic video and flash animation. The Art X: Expanded Forms program teaches students various media, including digital media, computer-based art, durational installation and more. The program emphasizes “creativity, versatility and poetics over computer-based technical skills.” The BFA program in sculpture works to give students knowledge in both traditional and contemporary sculpture concepts, while working with stone, wood, sheet-metal and bronze, among other media.

More BFA exhibitions will be opening in early December. These exhibitions will include photography, printmaking, metals, jewelry and more. We’ll keep you posted, so check back for more information!
