Just Our Type

Congratulations to Ron Arnholm, graphic design professor in the Lamar Dodd School of Art, who recently designed a new typeface, ITC Legacy Square Serif, as part of his Legacy family of fonts, that was accepted for the TDC2 2010 Type Design competition of the Type Directors Club of New York and will receive the “Certificate of Excellence in Type Design."

According to the LDSOA newsletter:
It will also be included at the front of the Annual of The Type Directors Club, “Typography 31”, as a “Judges Choice”. This font family was selected by one of the jurors as a personal favorite. The winning entries will be shown at the TDC Awards Exhibition this summer in New York.

They will also be included in the exhibition touring the United States, Canada, England, France, Germany, Ireland, Japan, Russia and Spain.

Only 16 entries of 176 submitted from 29 countries were selected by the jury.
The Georgia Museum of Art uses both Legacy ITC Serif Book and Legacy ITC Sans-Serif Book as its official fonts on all materials, including exterior signage. We've always found both the capital M, with its lovely straight legs, and the capital R, with its beautiful swoop, particularly elegant.
