Talk Back at the Lapin Agile with Lynn Boland

While this isn’t a museum-sponsored event, it does feature our very own Lynn Boland, Pierre Daura Curator of European Art at GMOA. On Sunday, April 11, at 3:30 p.m., following the matinee performance of “Picasso at the Lapin Agile” by the Town and Gown Players at the Athens Community Theatre (115 Grady Ave.), Lynn Boland will discuss the notion of the spatial fourth dimension and its role in art and physics. “Talk Back at the Lapin Agile with Lynn Boland” will be moderated by Dr. Fran Teague (Joseph Meigs Professor of English at UGA), along with Allen Rowell (the director of the play) and the actors.

Boland received his undergraduate degree in art history from the University of Georgia in 1999 and his master’s degree from the University of Texas at Austin in 2003. Boland is set to receive his doctorate in art history this year, with a dissertation on dissonance in modern European art and music and its scientific underpinnings. Prior to working at GMOA, he organized exhibitions for the Creative Research Laboratory at the University of Texas at Austin. Boland’s advisor at the University of Texas at Austin, Linda Henderson, is best known for her work restoring the pre-Einsteinian notion of the spatial fourth dimension and its role as a major source for modern art. His knowledge of this area of study should make for quite an interesting dialogue between the audience and the creative team.

Along with Boland, two other multitalented GMOA staffers have had a role in the play’s production. GMOA shop manager Amy Miller served as costume designer and Larry Forte, Daura art handler, designed the poster.
