Nash Boney Lecture Last Week

For the University’s 225th birthday, along with the exhibition on view through April 30 at the Visual Arts Building on Jackson Street, GMOA hosted and organized a lecture by Dr. Nash Boney on March 31. Dr. Boney, professor of history at UGA before his retirement in 1994, showcased a brief history of the University of Georgia through slides. The nostalgic images—photos, sketches, drawings and paintings—reminded its viewers of the school’s drastic evolution from its inception to today. Some of the highlights were portraits of turn-of-the-century UGA football players, one of which is depicted below. Dr. Boney’s lecture was as entertaining and edifying as expected, drizzled with charm and humor.
