Small, hand-built sculpture, functional pottery, teapots, flowerpots, mugs, plates, ceramic jewelry, vases and bowls will be available. All pieces were made by faculty and students. Prices range from $8 to $100 and proceeds will support student educational field trips and visiting artists. Email tsaupe@uga.edu for more information.

GMOA is having a shop sale tomorrow and Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Visual Arts Building on Jackson Street. There will be a wide selection of unique items discounted up to 75 percent. Email millera@uga.edu for more info.

The closing reception for “Constructive Chromosomes” is tomorrow from 5 to 7 p.m. at Flicker Theatre & Bar. The show features photography, ink stampings and light boxes by Will Eskridge. Art Around Athens

It's your last chance to see the "23rd Annual Student Juried Printmaking and Book Arts Exhibition" at the Lamar Dodd School of Art, which has a closing reception scheduled today from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Suite Gallery, Plaza Gallery and second-floor Printmaking Galleries, and will come down tomorrow (February 4). The juror this year was Dr. Asen Kirin, who has worked with the museum on several projects.

Also, this Saturday (February 6), is your last chance to submit to the Juried Art Exhibition of Southworks, the Oconee Cultural Arts Foundation's annual national juried show. This year's juror is Catherine Fox, who used to cover arts for the Atlanta Journal-Constitution and has an exciting new blog project we're adding to our RSS reader.

Staff Infection Closing Reception

Tim Brown, our Friends membership director, was kind enough to snap some photos during the closing reception for our "Staff Infection" exhibition, including many of the artists posing with their work. If you missed it (and it was a rather small reception), you missed fun, cookies and more.

Closing Reception

So, "Staff Infection," the small, informal exhibition of works created by GMOA staff members, will come to a close soon, with a closing reception this Friday (November 20) at noon. If you haven't stopped by the Visual Arts Building on Jackson Street yet, where our temporary offices are for the next who knows how long exactly and where the exhibition is up in the entrance hallway, please do so. There will be refreshments provided by the staff, potluck-style, during the reception, and we probably can't eat all of them ourselves. So if you'd like some free food and drink and wouldn't mind checking out some art in the process, come say hi on Friday afternoon. Next up in the space, works by Judith McWillie's aqueous media class.
