The Morton Theatre in downtown Athens is accepting submissions of works celebrating the Morton Theatre, Hot Corner or "the culture, heritage and community which comprise Hot Corner" for the Morton Theatre Centennial Art Show and Sale until Thursday, May 13. This Saturday, May 15, is the deadline to register for a booth at the third annual Five Points Art Fest, scheduled for June. Booths are $50 each and you can download a registration form as a pdf by clicking here.

Finally, the Georgia Center for Continuing Education, on the UGA Campus, is always looking for local artists to exhibit. Here's some information from them:

In an effort to promote the talents of local and regional artists to our community, as well as our national and international visitors, The Georgia Center is pleased to invite artists from your organization to submit applications for display of works of art in our temporary exhibition space, The Hill Atrium. Exhibitions of two dimensional works are displayed for a maximum of one month. Predetermined holes are located in the walls of the Hill Atrium for your convenience and will aid you in determining the number of works to submit for exhibition approval. Applications must be submitted a minimum of 90 days prior to the desired start date of the exhibition; will be reviewed and rewarded on a first-come, first-served basis; and exhibition content is subject to approval. Artists are encouraged to provide supplemental materials for distribution to visitors for the duration of the exhibition. In addition, wall labels, with pricing if works are for sale, is permitted. Artists may also choose to book a reception in conjunction with the exhibition. A public event provides artists with a chance to invite the community, university, and friends to view the exhibition, as well as answer questions about their work.

The Georgia Center Invites Local Artists to Display Work

The Georgia Center for Continued Education, the University of Georgia’s conference center and hotel, is inviting local artists to submit applications for their works of art to be displayed in the Georgia Center’s Hill Atrium.

The Georgia Center is working to promote the talents of local and regional artists to the community, as well as to the Center’s national and international visitors.

The conference center and hotel hosts more than 100,000 visitors each year from around the world, operates four dining options and supports many private and university-sponsored events. For more than 50 years, the Georgia Center has remained dedicated to the fine arts. The Center’s permanent art collection features work by local and international artists, including Lamar Dodd, Mary Padgelek, Bob Hart, Martha Odum, Jean Gibson, Alice Pruitt, David Kessler, Jerry Maddox, James Dean, Ray Ellis, Lori Keith Robinson, Laura Liden and Alvar Suñol. The Georgia Center’s two auditorium spaces, Mahler Auditorium and Masters Hall, have hosted numerous musical and theatrical performances.

Artists interested in submitting work for display should submit an application 90 days prior to the desired start date of the exhibition. Works will be reviewed and rewarded on a first-come, first-served basis, and content will be subject to approval. Works will be displayed for one month. Due to heavy traffic flow, three-dimensional works will not be displayed.

In addition, artists are encouraged to provide supplemental materials for distribution to visitors for the duration of the exhibition. Wall labels, with or without pricing, are permitted.
