"Summer's Last Kiss" Art Festival

The third annual “Summer’s Last Kiss” Art Festival will take place this weekend in Hiawassee, Ga. The festival is “a community celebration of creative expression” that includes visual and performing arts, poetry, crafts and food.

Hiawassee is located in the North Georgia mountains and is two hours from Atlanta. The festival hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, September 25, and noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday, September 26. Click here or call 706.896.4966 for more information.

Athens Indie Craftstravaganzaa



The 2009 Athens Indie Craftstravaganzaa Holiday Market is now accepting artist applications. Everything from fine art to crafts will be accepted as long as it is handmade. Nothing imported or prefabricated will be allowed. Musicians and volunteers are also needed, so check out the Web site and apply!

The deadline for artist applications is Nov. 18, 2009, and the booth fee is $95 for the weekend; forms and payment specifications can be found online.

The market will be held (rain or shine) Dec. 5 and 6, 2009, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday in the parking lot at the corner of Clayton and Pulaski streets in downtown Athens.

Artfest 2009


The Washington-Wilkes Arts Foundation (WWAF) of Washington, Georgia is holding its annual Fall Art Festival, Artfest, on November 7 and 8. The festival will take place in Town Square (in Washington) from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on November 7 and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on November 8. Artfest is free!

Artfest this year will celebrate original art representing media including photography, painting, ceramics and sculpture. WWAF has sponsored two annual arts festivals for the last three years—one in the fall with various art exhibitions and one in the spring that includes both visual art and music.

WWAF is a non-profit arts foundation that strives to “promote understanding and enjoyment of the cultural arts in Washington-Wilkes.” Membership in the organization is open to anyone. WWAF is looking for artists for Artfest! Click here for the artist application.

Call for Entries


Ron Cioffi, who used to teach our PR coordinator, Jenny Williams, sent along this call for entries for exhibition artists' section of Arts on the Creek, an arts festival held in Johns Creek, Ga., annually. Click on the image above to see it full size. Arts on the Creek also has an artists' market, but the exhibition stuff is juried, with a prize of $200 in each category. Jurors this year are Mark Karelson, director of Mason Murer Gallery, Atlanta, Ga.; Rob Matre, owner of Matre Gallery, Atlanta, Ga.; and Dr. Pam Sachant, coordinator of visual arts at North Georgia College and State University, Dahlonega, Ga. Arts on the Creek will take place September 5 and 6 (Labor Day weekend), with an opening reception the evening of September 4.
