Friends of the Museum Annual Meeting

We're mailing out postcard invitations to this upcoming event, too, but if you're not on our mailing list please know that the annual meeting of the Friends of the Georgia Museum of Art is free and open to the public and scheduled for May 14 at 7 p.m. The meeting will be preceded by hard-hat tours of the new building, which require a reservation (call 706.542.GMOA [4662]) and that you dress appropriately, in pants and closed-toed sturdy shoes. Click on the image above to see it full size and look for the same in your physical and e-mailbox.

The Art of: Music

Here's the invitation to our next "The Art of" event, The Art of: Music, to be held at Stan Mullins Studio (thanks, Stan!) on Pulaski Street, with Art Rosenbaum and friends supplying music. If you've never been to Stan's, it's pretty magical and also very Athens. Paper invitations will go out in next week's mail, but you Internet-savvy folk, as usual, get a jump on what's what. Click on the front and back for bigger versions, and we hope to see you there Oct. 20.

Lord Love You opening reception invitations

These went out in the mail Friday, and you should be getting yours any day now, but in case you didn't, or you're more of a blog reader than a USPS person, here's the invitation to the opening reception for Lord Love You: Works by R.A. Miller from the Mullis Collection, which opens at the Lyndon House Arts Center in August (click on either of the images to enlarge). The exhibition actually opens on August 8, but the reception will be August 15 from 6 to 8 p.m. and is free and open to the public. We also just sent corrected proofs for the book back to the printer, so that should be delivered (cross your fingers) by August 8. The book, which is hardback, will retail for $25 and is, we believe, the first devoted entirely to Miller's work.

You Are Invited!

Our next "The Art of" event, "The Art of: Scenic Design," is scheduled for May 13 at Athens Community Theater (scroll down for a map of the area). Click on the image below for more details. Postcards are set to go out any day to the Friends list, but you are all invited.

Here's a map of the area. The pushpin marks the location of the Taylor-Grady House, and Athens Community Theater is just behind, on Grady Ave. Please call us at 706.542.4662 with any questions, including if you need directions.
