NC Art Blog has a great Q&A with North Carolina Museum of Art art handler Tom Lopez about the massive reinstallation the NCMA just underwent, complete with great photos like the one above. We know we're forever harping on the stuff you don't see, but isn't that why you come read this blog? Anyway, if you happen to be a blogger or a newspaper person or something of the sort, file away this idea for when GMOA starts to reinstall our collection later this year, before we reopen in January.

Art from Unusual Materials

Here are two examples of art created using unusual materials or methods to inspire you this morning.

New Scientist reports on Nikon's Small World competition, which features micrographs (or photographs taken with a microscope). The above is Pedro Barrios-Perez's image of a wrinkled photoresist, "a photolithographic emulsion used in semiconductor manufacture." There's a great slideshow to click through.

And then there's the above, by Mark Khaisman, made from packing tape, his material of choice.
